Alberto Bernard studied Classics at the University of Padua and obtained his PhD from the École Pratique des Hautes Études, PSL in Paris. His dissertation focused on the history of the Zoroastrian priesthood in the Sasanian and early Islamic periods (3rd–9th centuries). His research interests include Pahlavi philology, Sasanian history, Zoroastrianism, and late antique Greek historiography.
