We are reporting the account at present with the handle @effoyyt (link: https://www.tiktok.com/@effoyyt?_t=ZM-8ucUL2mii74&_r=1) for spreading dangerous religious hate speech which can incite mass conflict in Ethiopia. This account, once "Efoy (legal name: Solomon Shiferaw)," has posted videos and live streams defaming religious leaders—Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)—and spreading lies under the guise of "apologetics" and "comparative religion." These are no exercise of free speech but deliberately planned hate speech to provoke religious tensions.

This is an immediate issue and moving fast. Ethiopian Muslims have responded in anger, and some Orthodox Christians have begun a solidarity campaign (""እኔም እፎይ ነኝ" or "I'm Efoy Too"), and so the polarization continues. The Ethiopian Inter-Religious Council issued a press statement condemning this action (see: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1ELNvVUHvy/), and government media outlets like Fana Broadcasting Corporation have reported it (links: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18dJUJ4kt2/, https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMBYaY9rn/, https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMBY5vcpj/). The security personnel are seriously searching for this individual behind this account, citing the severity of the threat.

Unless this account and others similar to it that are backing it are blocked and removed forever, we are concerned about an eruption of religious violence in Ethiopia. This would escalate to the extent that the Ethiopian government would ban TikTok forever across the nation, which would set a dangerous precedent for the app globally and damage its reputation. This would be detrimental to TikTok, its users worldwide, and the millions of Ethiopians who rely on it positively. Action is needed urgently to prevent this.

We have concrete evidence of the hate speech from the live streams and videos, and we can produce these as attachments (screenshots and clips). The user keeps on changing handles to evade being detected, but the current handle is @effoyyt. This is not an isolated event—his material regularly provokes hatred, scoffs at cherished beliefs, and threatens to bring about instability to our country. Although we appreciate TikTok's dedication to unrestricted expression, this is crossing the line into hurtful hate speech that contravenes your Community Guidelines. You should act with urgency to suspend this account and stop further damage before things go too far beyond repair.

Judge Hui described Ng as inciting others to “commit a massacre” with three posts teaching people to make “toxic chlorine gas bombs,” target police stations, police quarters and the city’s metro stations. This offence was “rather serious,” the court said. Those being doxxed include outgoing Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Chung and police assistant commissioner Joe Chan Tung, who heads police's cyber security and technology crime bureau. The group also hosted discussions on committing arson, Judge Hui said, including setting roadblocks on fire, hurling petrol bombs at police stations and teaching people to make such weapons. The conversation linked to arson went on for two to three months, Hui said. As the broader market downturn continues, yelling online has become the crypto trader’s latest coping mechanism after the rise of Goblintown Ethereum NFTs at the end of May and beginning of June, where holders made incoherent groaning sounds and role-played as urine-loving goblin creatures in late-night Twitter Spaces.
