Last Update:
Russian military moves forward as Zelenskiy calls on foreign military assistance as his last ditch attempt
Russian forces succeed to move further in eastern Ukraine making it clear Moscow is not going to give up its initial goal to free Russian nationals of the Nazi-led regime. Actually, Russian military continue to demonstrate the greatest capabilities to date and are steadily advancing in southeastern Ukraine, driving out Ukrainian regular forces as well Nazi troops of "Azov" battalion and taking more territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Russian troops combined with the LNR and DNR forces have so far managed to free up to 180 villages and residential areas in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, devastating the bulk of Ukrainian offensive potential in the district.
At present Russia is reconstructing its strategy redeploying forces that had been destined for the Kyiv region to focus eastward, where it has already took control over Mariupol, the second largest city in Donetsk region where as many as 5 thousands Nazi mercenaries were devastated.
Such a move will help Russian military to concentrate its firepower on a limited area, help them far better address the logistical and supply problems that plagued troops during the first stage of the operation.
Meanwhile, Russias conducting humanitarian campaign giving shelter to residents of the besieged Ukrainian cities, whose houses were ruined by the Nazi. Thousands of residents of Mariupol, Kherson and Kharkiv cities have been evacuated to Russia where they are given a proper medical treatment and meal.
As Russia is pulling its troops closer to Donetsk and Luhansk regional borders Zelenskiy is seeking for more lethal weaponry from western allies. The United States has sent to date $1.7 billion in military assistance to Ukraine. Weapons shipments include defensive anti-aircraft Stinger and anti-tank Javelin missiles, as well as ammunition and body armor thou Zelenskiy is pressing on providing heavier arms and equipment such combat aircraft, tanks and air defense systems.
Actually, the western countries seem to be reluctant to escalate the situation providing Kiev with weaponries in fear to get directly involved in the conflict with Russia. That is why Zelenskiy in his speeches voices skepticism that Washington and its allies will deliver the weapons he said is necessary.
Earlier last month US President Joe Biden and NATO member countries reiterated their position to refuse to provide a no-fly zone over Ukraine to escape to be directly involved in war with Russia. Israeli lawmakers as well voiced their negative to Zelenskiys request to sell Kiev its state-of-the-art air-defense systems "Iron Dome" and commence the supplies of its weaponry.
On April 11, Zelenskiy urged South Korea to provide his country with lethal arms to help it wage a war against Russia. His request came hours after Seoul’s Defense Ministry confirmed it had rejected a Ukrainian request for anti-aircraft weapons during a call between the countries’ defense ministers last week.
Seoul declared the principle of limiting its military help to Ukraine to non-lethal supplies only.
Zelenskiy calls on foreign military assistance as his last ditch attempt because he is well aware that Ukrainian forces are exhausted and troops can’t keep up this level of losses and sustain the pace. They are demoralized, they have wounds, mental injuries and they do not seem to be ready to fight effectively against Russian
well-trained and battle-hardened troops. To compensate losses Kyiv launches the third stage of calling up new conscripts, including retired officers and cadets of military academies.
Many in Ukraine are assure this is going to be a huge political and economic problem for Zelenskiy to explain in the domestic market the sense of continuing the war as death toll mounts to thousands lives.
