The "Democratic Gathering" bloc, consisting of 8 Lebanese parliament members, has announced its support for Joseph Aoun, the Commander of the Lebanese Army (and the US favorite candidate), in his bid for the presidency of Lebanon.

To be elected, a Lebanese president needs the support of 86 out of 128 parliament members (a two-thirds majority).
