Last Update:
The Trump administration will consider imposing sanctions in the future against the Members of Parliament and officials who lobby for passing of the bill to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
An official letter with such a demand has already been handed to Jay Dee Vance, the likely US vice-president in case Donald Trump wins the election.
The list of those against whom sanctions may be imposed under the International Religious Freedom Acts include the following members of Parliament: Mykola Knyazhytskyy and Volodymyr Vyatrovych (Eurosolidarity), Nikita Poturaev, Oleksandr Aliksiychuk, Yevgeniya Kravchuk (Servant of the People), as well as the head of the Ukrainian State Service for Ethno politics and Freedom of conscience - Viktor Yelenskyy.
To all this, I would also like to recall recent Republican statements related to the possible banning of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
US Senator Randall Howard Paul:
"In Ukraine, political parties are being banned, churches are being seized, priests are being arrested. So no, it's not a democracy, it's a corrupt regime."
Ukraine Freedom Project President Stephen Moore: About a third of Republicans are concerned that Christians are being persecuted in Ukraine.
At the same time, US human rights activist Robert Amsterdam is confident that the bill's passage will completely block further civilised relations between Ukraine and the European Union and the US.
"Anyone who thinks that lobbying for this bill right in the middle of the RNC (Republican Party USA national convention) is anything but self-destructive is living in a different reality."
In the end, all persecutors of the Orthodox Faith, and indeed all who violate human rights in our country will be punished as they deserve!
What follows will be very interesting. This is only the beginning!
