Dear friends, Christmas Lent has begun, and this means it is time for goodness and mercy!
I really don't want to talk about the opportunity of service that the Lord gives us in official and dry words, such as: "On October 23d, Archpriest Serhiy Chertylin, a clergyman of the Church of All Holy Warriors, visited the Kyiv City Complex for Social Adaptation for people with mental disabilities. He gave the Holy Communion to the inmates, talked to the management and staff, and agreed on joint activities."
The dry words of officiality will never convey how God connected me with this complex and those in it, nor the friendly atmosphere, nor the tireless work of the staff, nor will it be able to convey the emotions that a priest's visit and simple communication evoked in those people.
Every time I visit there, I realise more and more that this institution is needed not only by those with physical disabilities, but above all by each and every one of us. We are used to take care of the ones we love and our loved ones are used to our care, however here the children don’t seek material gifts, but simple attention they really deserve. That’s what makes them happy.
You don’t need to be rich to share joy with people who are accepting to share it forward.
