На сей раз вместо куба у дизайнера получился параллелепипед, состоящий из двух деталей: стального корпуса и алюминиевого блока с двумя отсеками для пепла. Дизайн был продиктован соображениями, положенными в основу пепельницы «Cubo» (и намекающими на то, что сам Мунари не курил): «Я взялся придумать такую пепельницу, которая бы не выставляла напоказ свое неопрятное содержимое. Когда во время еды кто-нибудь из сидящих за столом курит, окурки оказываются рядом с пищей, а это не очень хорошее соседство».
Что касается названия (Cipro – Кипр по-итальянски), ответ на вопрос о его происхождении, вероятно, можно найти, если обратить внимание на год создания пепельницы, 1974. Летом этого года, как известно, на Кипр высадились турецкие войска, взявшие под контроль более трети острова, но это уже совсем другая история.
