🟠 Imam Malik, despite his high status, said:
(I did not issue a fatwa until seventy scholars wearing turbans in Madinah testified for me.)
Meaning, from among the great scholars of Madinah.
📘 A Story and a Lesson:
🖇️ A man came to Imam Malik from Morocco.
Reflect on the distance between Morocco and Madinah. This man came to Imam Malik and said to him:
"O Imam, I left the people of Morocco and all of them were saying that there is no one more knowledgeable than Malik."
Then he presented forty questions to Imam Malik.
So Imam Malik answered only four questions and said "I do not know" for thirty-six of them!
So the man said:
"O Imam, what should I tell the people when I return to them?"
Imam then replied:
"Tell them that Malik does not know!"
🖇️ Therefore, this is a very critical matter—speaking in Allah's religion and in Allah's Shariah.
And fatwas, they are not based on feelings, sensations, emotional inclinations, or dramatic impressions. No!!
⬅️ If you have sound, reliable knowledge taken from a trustworthy source, then convey it. This is acceptable, at the very least.
⬅️ But if you speak in the religion of Allah based on conjecture, assumptions, or what arises within your heart, and you say, "It is this way" or "It is that way," so this will not absolve you from the consequences of speaking about Allah without knowledge.
🖇️ And Imam Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله has a book titled:
“I'laam Al-Muwaqqi'een 'An Rabb Al-'Alameen” (Notifying the Signatories on Behalf of the Rabb of the Worlds).
When you say, “I feel this matter is halal,” it is as though you have written a decree and signed it on behalf of Allah.
🖇️ Reflect on the gravity of this matter.
🖇️ This is a serious and dangerous slip that a person must be mindful of and avoid.
