برخی معادل‌ها را خود مردم به شوخی ساخته و به فرهنگستان منتسب کرده‌اند؛ مثل «درازآویز زینتی» به‌جای کراوات و «کش‌لقمه» به‌جای پیتزا. خیلی‌ها فکر می‌کنند این واژه‌ها واقعاً ساختهٔ فرهنگستان است؛ اما چنین نیست و اصولاً هیچ جای دنیا برای پیتزا معادل نساخته‌اند که ما بخواهیم بسازیم.
